First, we were asked to draw an ouroboros on our index card. Then we had to draw another self portrait of ourselves, this time for 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Then we read the last classes log out loud in class.
Next, we talked about the reading we did for homework, Shitty First Drafts by Anne Lamott. We talked about the 6 different reading strategies in relation to the text. Then we went over the process of writing we would do more in highschool: prewriting , drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Now we will use recursive writing, which is returning to the same thing over and over again, since the writing process isn’t straight forward.
We talked about how an ouroboros is like recursive writing because it keeps going around, there's no set start or end really.
Then for 7 minutes we took our scar wars story and rewrote it for a different audience. Afterwards, we each chose a sentence from our story to share with the class.
Next, we read a poem called “Where I’m From” by George Ella Lyon. We went around the room and each read a line from the poem, and then went over what we thought the poem meant. We then went through each line, and rewrote it about ourselves keeping the same format. We got through the first stanza, and shared it with our neighbor.
We don’t have any official homework, but we could finish rewriting the poem.
