Class notes: April 21st log

Updated: Apr 25, 2022

First, we started by doing a self portrait of us getting a strike. Then we read the last class log. Ella presented her mentor text which was “Shake the Dust” by Anis Mojgani. She talks about how it has a lot of different groups, and we can find ourselves in the poem, and even in categories you wouldn't have thought about.

On April 26 by midnight we need to email Mat. Put a salutation (not Mr. Wenzel) and make sure you spell his name right. In the subject line put “Final portfolio”. Then put a link to your final portfolio. Then write what kind of feedback you would like if any at all. Also tell him if your portfolio is not complete and what is still yet to come. And then put what grade you want (don’t explain it). If you don’t have everything on the checklist, you won’t get an A. If you don’t put a grade he’ll put a D. When grading yourself also think about how much you improved, and how much time/effort you put in.

If you don’t come to class on Tuesday to present the pitch, email Mat because you could be at risk of failing since he won’t know what your final project is.

We then asked questions. Someone asked about the reflection so we read the syllabus. He said it wasn’t entirely accurate and to ignore the each project part, just one big reflection. Mat then mentioned that he grades in the order he gets the emails, so try not to do it too late. The final campaign is the only part that has to be final, and polished since its being published to the real world. The checkboxes on the side of the list you don’t have to go through one by one, just to help you along. The length doesn’t matter of the reflection, but don't just write 3 sentences.

We then worked on reflecting. For 1 minute wrote about what made you laugh. Then what did you hate, despise, or like the least. Then what of the work you've done would you share or have shared with someone from your past. Then what surprised you that you wrote, good bad or otherwise. And lastly, what was a turning point in this class.

He’s going to get donuts for us on Tuesday.
