To start off, I've never really been a big fan of English. Writing never came naturally to me like it seemed to for others. When I first started this class, I was quite nervous as I thought it would be a bunch of essays and tons of writing. And while there has been a lot of writing in my opinion, I feel like the way this class was structured was different than most of my other english classes. I felt like I had more freedom to choose my own direction. Which in its own way was scary, but I think it helped me.
One thing that was hard especially at first were the x-pages. I don't know why but I couldn't flip that switch in my brain that would just let me do it freely, I kept trying to make it too structured. But after being in the class more and getting more comfortable with it, it got easier. I think this class taught me more that I can go my own direction. We were encouraged to do things like make a podcast, or a poem, or a video, which my english classes haven't really done before. While I know that my classes in the future might not let me do all of that, I think that it still helped me get out of my comfort zone more.
This class was for sure hard for me at first, but I had a good time. I liked coming to class (even if it was at 8 am). Hearing peoples mentor talks was interesting because it was cool to see how we all differed in what we chose but could still relate it back to the class, and also to see some videos that I might not have found myself. Overall, I feel that this course helped me a lot more than I anticipated, and I had a fun time. Thankyou.
